Shape Detectives – Learn & Experience Shapes

Today me and my little one had some fun educational activity to experience the Math of the Real World. We called it Shape Detectives.
So my son today, became a Shape Detective to find and identify the Shapes of different objects around the house.

Benefits of this activity?

This activity helps the child to learn to identify different shapes all around him/her. They start analyzing different daily routine objects and starts to view them with a new perspective now. They start to apply Math in their daily life.

Suitable for all age kids upto 6-7 yrs old mainly for Kindergarten, Preschool, and First Graders.

What to do?

In this fun activity the kids are going to play the role of detectives and find the Shapes of different objects in this given room below and Count & Write the numbers.

The kids will be using the differently shapes Lenses for this activity given on Pages 3 & 4 of this file.

Preparation

Things Required:

  • Printer
  • Card Stock
  • Popsicle Sticks
  • Scissors
  • Glue

In order to prepare the activity –

– Print the given Room Scene and Shapes in Color Printer.

– Shapes can be printed on a Card Stock is available or just can be pasted on it once normally printed.

– Using glue, attach a Popsicle Stick behind these Shapes to make it look like a Shape lens for the kids.

NOTE: Extend this activity to identify Shapes of real surrounding objects.
