Any celebration or festival in India and especially in south India will definitely start with a beautiful design rich and colorful Rangoli or what they call in south India as Kolam / Muggu.
I was very fond of this Muggu from my childhood days. I remember I used to keep staring at those designs trying to make mental notes of the designs in my grandparents village when we used to go there for our vacations. I loved the speed and the smoothness of the ladies hands while making those fantastic designs with such finesse. It had so many calculations involved in it which many of the village ladies could do without even considering going to a school let alone know about mathematics, odd even numbers or any geometry.
Known by many different names, Muggu or Kolam or Rangoli every Indian house would be portraying some version of this decoration in their festivities. This Diwali, I want to share these designs which I have found and collected so far.
Of course every house would have their unique Rangoli patterns and combinations, here are some designs and patterns to ponder upon.
Unleash your creativity and colors with these fantastic designs and have Happy Festivities.
